Below is the current list of requirements for all on ice/on bench staff for the 2023-2024 season, each of these must be completed for anyone to participate on ice/on the bench at the 6U-18U level per USA hockey for the upcoming season.
If you have coached in the past, follow this link https://courses.usahockey.com/public/ to the USA Hockey site and select 'My Profile' in the top left and then 'Coaching Information'. This page will show what items you have at this point and what is expiring this upcoming season. It also provides quick links to what is expiring.
This is the best way to know exactly where you are with completing your coaching requirements.
2023-2024 USA Hockey coaching requirements & CEP program:
USA Hockey Coaching Requirements include:
- Register with USA Hockey: https://membership.usahockey.com/
- Complete the required background screening (every 2 years): https://www.usahockey.com/backgroundscreen
- Complete the required Safe Sport training (course or refresher every year): https://www.usahockey.com/safesporttrainin
- Complete the appropriate Age-Specific Training Module (if necessary) for the level of play that you are coaching https://www.usahockey.com/agespecificmodules
- CEP level class (virtual or in-person) https://www.usahockey.com/coachingclinics
Each virtual CEP clinic will generally span two days with each daily session lasting approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. There may also be some in-person clinics this upcoming year. For the virtual clinics you can register for the level clinic you need from any district in the country. Clinics will be added to the schedule so please check back for future dates regularly as they fill up quickly.
